How to get to Manzanillo /Santa Teresa

From San Jose it takes around 5 hours to get to Santa Teresa and Manzanillo. Take the new San Jose – Caldera Highway #27 and drive to the port town of Puntarenas. In Puntarenas take the ferry to Paquera across the Gulf of Nicoya. Once in Paquera drive 46 km to Cobano where you continue straight until you hit the beach of Manzanillo, 13 km after Cobano.
If you come from Santa Teresa drive 8 km north on the coastal road.

Be prepared that on the southern Nicoya Peninsula, where Santa Teresa and Manzanillo is located, the roads in general are very bad. Few parts are paved and potholes abound. A 4WD vehicle is essential for the whole area.
